Adoption Fundraising

Hello to all of my readers. Once again, I am posting something that is not a plug for Etsy. This one is much more important to me, and closer to my heart, than Etsy. Sorry! I really like Etsy, but I LOVE babies.

We have been put in the running as a family waiting to adopt a precious little baby. The baby is due to be born in February, and we have spoken to the birth mom twice now. We will be meeting with her sometime this week so that she can get to know our little family and see if we will be a great family for her precious little gift.

One of the things that comes with having children is the added financial need, and with adoption, it is no different; sometimes it is even more costly. This birth mom is going through an established adoption agency/attorney. She will not have to pay for anything while going through this process. We, however, will be responsible for roughly 1/3 of the costs involved. As some of you may know adoption costs, including lawyer fees can really stack up.

We are trying to put aside some money for our part of things, regardless of whether this particular birth mom chooses us or not. You may have noticed the advertisements on the bottom right of this blog. We are able to make a little commission when you click through to these shops and purchase something from them. We will be adding a few more as we are able. We will be taking all commissions made from these shops and putting them in our "Adoption Fund". Thank you so much for helping us out! We really appreciate your generosity!

Have a blessed day!

Angie

I am so glad I clicked over from the etsy forums to see this. I really hope you get to bring your new baby home soon. I would like to adopt too, as it is the only way I'll be a mom. It is so expensive, I hear ya on that! Maybe someday I'll be able to do what you're doing. It helps to hear that others are successful at it :)

Oh, field notes, I hope that you are able to do the same thing. Thank you so much for commenting! I think it's a wonderful gift from God to be able to adopt. We are hoping that if we are never able to get pregnant, that we will be able to adopt several children. God bless you!

I hope you get the baby you're in the running for (and I feel a bit sorry for putting the phrase in here to let you know I'd love to be featured, but I guess you set it up intentionally).

My husband is an adoptee, and his niece is, too. They make wonderful family members. Being chosen doesn't make them feel like outsiders, but special.

I hope it works out for you with the baby. It must be exciting, yet nervewracking to be "in the running". Babies are such a blessing!

Wow! Congrats on being in the running for a new baby! One of my cousins adopted a few year back and his son is so cute and sweet. Hearing my cousin tell the story of the adoption was so special becuase it was the greatest thing he's ever done. (Those are his words, but I agree). Good luck and I will be praying for your family and your possible new family member!!

I know that adopting can be a very emotional experience. A close teacher of mine in high school was adopting twins from somewhere in Asia I believe and we got to hear about all of the struggles and joys of adopting kids or newborns. I also have 2 cousins who were adopted but they were adopted as teenagers and it is a little different than adopting a newborn, I suppose the financial strain is lessened. I also have a best friend who is thinking of adopting in the future. I am thankful that there are people who will give their love and support to these babies. It is one thing to just adopt a child and raise them but to actually instill morals and values in that person’s life is priceless!

Oh and I hope that I am "in the running" for your kind consideration. Thanks

Adoption is such a beautfil commitment. Through my cousin (more big sister, best friend) I have seen all sides of adoption. She gave a baby up for adoption as a teen, later adopted a baby and discovered that she has a half sister that was given up for adoption. Adoption is wonderful.

It is my hope that your "in the running" status will very soon change to "chosen parents". You are about to experience a kind of love that you've never known before. It's amazing, sometimes I think you actually feel your heart growing to accomodate all this love. Best wishes to you and I will keep you in my prayers.

Another added note I want you to know that I am also a believer and a follower of Christ and I believe that if you are walking in Gods will the outcome will be perfect, weather we see it that way or not. He knows your love for this child and he knows that in Him you can raise this child up to be a strong person who has been given a purpose in life.

Take care,
